History

Established as Department of Computer Engineering in 1991, its history dates to the year 1968 when University of Engineering and Technology Lahore established a Computer Centre. This centre was equipped with a contemporary IBM 1130 third generation computers that batch processed submitted jobs. The computer was equipped with a disk and a monitor. The centre was responsible for planning and teaching courses in Computer Science and Numerical Analysis, which formed an integral part of the curricula for all disciplines of B.Sc. Engineering degree in the university. The centre also offered short-term computer courses for other private and public sector organizations. In 1978, it started offering a master’s degree program in Computer Engineering, thus becoming the first centre in the country to offer Computer Engineering degree.

CE Program History

A four years degree program leading towards a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Science and Engineering was initiated in 2001. For students enrolling from September 2003 onwards, this  B.Sc. program has been re-named and modified into four years B.Sc. Computer Engineering (CE) program. Recently in 2020 Computer Engineering department is separately established for the independent running of Computer Engineering Program.

Computer Engineering program is accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) since its inception in 2001 to date.  The department is working for the accreditation under PEC Outcome Based accreditation (OBA) manual 2014 from December 2014.

Our graduates are employed in international organizations such a Microsoft Bing, Google, Amazon, ORACLE, IBM and SalesForce.   Our graduates have a good job market share in local industry such as Techlogix, Powersoft19, Netsol, I2C, Xavor, Mentor Graphics, I2C, Systems etc.  Many of them are entrepreneurs of organization at National and International levels.
